81 competitors. Three days in Guiyang. One new champion.
After three days of coffee, competition, workshops, and community celebrations, the 2026 China AeroPress Championship has crowned its champion: Ma Yongquan (Tim). Held from October 26–28 in Guiyang, China, the championship brought together coffee professionals, home brewers, judges, and coffee enthusiasts from across the country. For Tim, the victory means more than taking home the national title. He has earned the opportunity to represent China at the World AeroPress Championship in Mexico City.
A New Champion Emerges in Guiyang
The road to becoming China’s AeroPress Champion was far from simple. With 81 competitors entering the championship, each participant brought their own brewing techniques, recipes, and ideas to the competition. Throughout the preliminary rounds, semifinals, and final, competitors faced the challenge of preparing their best AeroPress brews under competition conditions. Every round brought them closer to the final decision. On October 28, after the final round of judging, Ma Yongquan (Tim) was announced as the 2026 China AeroPress Champion. It was a moment worth celebrating—not only for Tim, but also for the friends, fellow competitors, and coffee community who shared the experience.
More Than a Competition
The 2026 championship marked an important moment for China’s AeroPress community. Hosted by Outman Coffee, with support from Duide Coffee Lab and I’M NOT A BARISTA, the event was designed to offer something beyond a traditional brewing competition. Over three days, participants joined coffee workshops, shared brewing knowledge, participated in cupping activities, and connected with fellow coffee lovers. International guests, including 2023 World AeroPress Champion Tay Wipvasutt, joined the celebration, bringing additional perspectives and experiences to the community. While the championship ultimately produced one winner, the event was built around a simple belief:
Every competitor matters.
Each person who traveled to Guiyang brought their own story, motivation, and love for coffee. Some were experienced competitors. Others were taking part for the first time. Not everyone left with a trophy, but everyone contributed to making the championship what it was.
From Guiyang to Mexico City
For Tim, the journey doesn’t end in Guiyang. As China’s newly crowned AeroPress Champion, he will represent the country at the World AeroPress Championship in Mexico City. There, he will join national champions from around the world, each bringing their own approach to brewing coffee with the AeroPress. It’s an exciting next chapter for Tim and an opportunity to share China’s coffee culture with the international AeroPress community. We look forward to following his journey and seeing what he brings to the world stage.
One Champion. One Community.
As the final competition tables were cleared and the celebrations came to an end, the 2026 China AeroPress Championship left behind more than a set of results. It brought together people who might never have met otherwise. New friendships were formed. Brewing ideas were exchanged. Connections grew into something more meaningful. And somewhere along the way, a new national champion emerged.
Congratulations, Ma Yongquan (Tim), the 2026 China AeroPress Champion!
We’ll be cheering you on in Mexico City. One City. One Community. One Championship.
