Coffee Internship 2026: Remote Opportunities in Sustainability and Global Coffee Community

By February 17, 2026No Comments4 min read

Are you passionate about coffee and eager to make a real difference? At I’M NOT A BARISTA, we’re a small not-for-profit dedicated to empowering baristas and the global coffee community through storytelling, education, and direct support. Our flagship initiative, the Global Coffee Alliance for Good (GCAG), is all about uplifting small-scale coffee farmers— who make up 89% of the world’s coffee production but often face resource shortages and market challenges.

Launched in 2025 with our first project in Colombia, GCAG provides free educational courses, essential brewing tools (like kettles, grinders, and scales), and funding for sustainable farming practices. In Colombia, we hosted a transformative 3-day training for 18 young farmers, covering sensory training, brewing techniques, roasting, and farm management, in partnership with brands like TIMEMORE and local organizations such as Fundación Federico. The impact? Farmers gained practical skills, built community connections, and received gear to improve their yields— all funded transparently through donations and our charity wristbands. Now, we’re expanding to Indonesia in 2026, launching on-the-ground training programs to create lasting change in coffee villages.

We’re restarting our internship program to build a small, passionate team for GCAG 2026. This is a 100% remote, unpaid opportunity where you’ll collaborate with like-minded people from around the world— sharing the same love for coffee and drive to do good. If you’re ready to get your hands dirty and contribute to real-world sustainability, apply to join us as part of this small but dynamic team. We’re seeking interns for the following roles—all focused on making GCAG Indonesia a success:

Available Roles in Our Coffee Internship Program

1. Communication Manager (Coffee Internship Focus: Outreach & Storytelling)

  • Tasks: Handle outreach to donors, partners, and coffee trainers via emails, calls, and social media. Craft press releases, update our website with GCAG stories, and coordinate virtual meetings. Amplify messages about specialty coffee sustainability to attract global support.

2. Project Manager (Coffee Internship Focus: Coordination & Logistics)

  • Tasks: Oversee GCAG Indonesia timelines, including tool shipments, training schedules, and fundraising goals. Use tools like Google Drive or Asana to track progress, manage budgets for travel and student meals, and ensure smooth cross-time-zone collaboration.

3. Graphic Designer (Coffee Internship Focus: Visual Branding)

  • Tasks: Design promotional graphics, infographics on farmer impacts, and materials for donors. Create campaigns for charity wristbands or event posters highlighting coffee roasters and sustainability, using Canva or Adobe tools.

4. Editor (Coffee Internship Focus: Content Polish)

  • Tasks: Edit blogs, reports, and newsletters on GCAG updates (e.g., Indonesia farmer stories). Refine fundraising pitches, scripts, and social posts to engage coffee community audiences.

Basic Requirements for Our Remote Coffee Internship

  • A deep love for coffee and a desire to drive positive change in sustainability.
  • Excellent English skills (bonus for languages like Indonesian or Spanish to support global outreach).
  • Self-starter attitude, reliable for remote work with an international team sharing coffee passion.
  • 10-20 hours/week availability for at least 3 months—flexible for students or professionals.
  • Basic tech know-how—we value willingness to learn over expertise.

This internship isn’t paid, but it’s a gateway to hands-on skills in the coffee industry, from sustainability internship projects to real-world impact. Build your portfolio with tangible results, like funding farmer trainings or partnering with coffee brands. Perfect for those seeking coffee internship opportunities that go beyond the cup.

How to Apply: Send your resume, a short cover letter explaining why you love coffee and want to support GCAG, and which role(s) interest you to career@notabarista.org Use the subject line: “GCAG 2026 Internship Application”. Applications are open now—let’s brew some good together!
