We’ve been keeping something under wraps. Over the past few weeks, the I’M NOT A BARISTA team has been working closely with Duide Coffee Lab and Outman Coffee Roastery in Guiyang to help bring the AeroPress Championship back to China — and reconnect one of the world’s biggest coffee communities with AeroPress lovers around the world.
This year, we’re doing things a little differently.
Instead of separate regional events, competitors from across China — and beyond — will come together in Guiyang for one three-day experience.
October 26–28, 2026
Guiyang, China
Up to 120 competitors
One China Champion → Mexico City
And importantly: this is an open competition.
You don’t need to be a professional barista. You don’t need a competition title. If you love AeroPress, love coffee, and want to compete, you’re welcome to join us. But we also want these three days to be about much more than who wins.
We’re bringing together international judges, coffee professionals, workshops, music, and plenty of time to brew, learn, hang out, and make new friends. And we’re excited to welcome our friend Ekameth Wipvasutti from Thailand, the 2023 World AeroPress Champion, who will join us in Guiyang and share his experience through a special workshop.
Because while only one person will leave Guiyang as the China Champion and continue the journey to Mexico City, we hope everyone leaves with something — a new skill, a new friendship, a new idea, or simply a great coffee story to tell.
That’s also why I’M NOT A BARISTA wanted to be part of bringing this championship back.
More coffee people. More connections. More stories.
Registration opens soon.
