Back in May 2021, we introduced you to Nükhet Çubukçular, a Turkish designer, coffee roaster, and barista. Recently, Nükhet made an incredible gesture, she donated some of her work profits to I’M NOT A BARISTA. We are truly so very humbled by her gesture and feel we would like to share this with all of you.
So, it seems like the time is right to revisit that original interview, and learn a little more about what motivated Nükhet to donate to us. For a while now, Nükhet has been illustrating and collaborating with roasters, coffee equipment companies, creating beautiful coffee-inspired designs for them.
One such case is her collaboration with Orea, a company that produces coffee brewers made for explorers. Nükhet created a design that is minimalistic, simple, and elegant with a connection to the origins of coffee and the beautiful mountains where it grows.
As a result of this collaboration, Nükhet decided to donate all her profits to us. This 165$ donation gives us an example of how one person can make a difference in the lives of others. (Check our donations here)
”“I’M NOT A BARISTA sent me a 100$ donation during a very difficult time in my life. Their donation helped me a lot with my bills and taking care of my cat’s health. I wanted to give something back for a while now, to support other baristas like I’M NOT A BARISTA supported me. Because nothing can beat the meaning of the free encounter of souls and that’s what coffee does, it brings us together”
Nükhet Çubukçular
We are very grateful to Nükhet. The truth is, we all live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with messages telling us to buy something, do something, or be someone. Here at I’M NOT A BARISTA we believe there is a need to think outside the box and step out of our comfort zone.
It is not about giving money, it is about giving our time and effort to help others. Nükhet dedicated her time and resources to help others and by doing that she became a source of inspiration for all of us to think outside the box. Today, more than ever, we need more people who are willing to support others and help them find new ways of thinking. We hope Nükhet’s story makes you feel the same way.
