We’ve been humbled and overwhelmed by the incredible interest and support for our MOMENTEM grinder from all over the coffee community. From professional baristas to national champions and influencers, we’ve received countless requests to collaborate or sponsor the grinder. We want to take a moment to address this and provide some clarity on how we operate.
Why MOMENTEM is Different
MOMENTEM is not your typical coffee product—it’s a project under I’M NOT A BARISTA, we’re a not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering coffee people and giving them a bigger voice. Everything we create, including the MOMENTEM grinder, serves a greater purpose beyond sales: all our products and merchandise are for charity.
This means that our mission, approach, and project goals are fundamentally different from most coffee brands. We are not driven by traditional marketing strategies or profit margins. We aim to remain transparent with our supporters about how and why we make decisions regarding collaboration.
Our Policy
- No Sponsorships
We do not sponsor baristas, send grinders for competition use. Our focus is on developing the product itself and keeping the reviews and feedback unbiased and genuine. Please understand that this is a conscious decision—one that ensures our grinder is recognized for its quality rather than promotional reach. - No Influencer Collaborations
We appreciate the incredible work of traveling bloggers, coffee influencers, and content creators. However, we don’t collaborate or exchange products for posts, unboxing videos, or reviews. Our mission is to have all opinions and reviews on MOMENTEM come from real users who have experienced the product first-hand.
Why We Choose This Approach
In the past, we have shared prototypes and production units with a few select coffee professionals whom we deeply respect, such as Lance Hendricks and Wayne Shih, as well as the first production batch with Ourcoffeeshelter, Daddgygotcoffee, and ARAMSE. These individuals were not sponsored but were chosen because of the trust, mutual respect, and their genuine support for our mission.
We understand that not participating in traditional collaborations limits our product’s exposure. But our goal is to keep the focus on what truly matters: continuously improving the product based on real feedback and creating something truly unique for the community.

Open for Engineer Collaborations
While we don’t collaborate for promotional purposes, we are open to working with passionate engineers and passionate individuals who can help improve the product design, mechanical structure, burr design, and other technical aspects of the grinder. Our focus remains on making the MOMENTEM better with every iteration. If you’re an engineer or designer who wants to contribute, we would love to hear from you!
Final Thoughts
We’re sorry to have to turn down so many collaboration requests, but we hope you understand our reasoning. While many see profit opportunities in the coffee industry, we are quietly working on perfecting MOMENTEM, building a small yet dedicated community, and making a positive impact.
