From Barista to Robot: Exploring the Evolution of Coffee with KioCafé

By 25th April 2024May 3rd, 2024No Comments3 min read

KioSoft Technologies @kiosofttechnologies, a company that specializes in unattended kiosk solutions, has expanded its brand. Their machinery is equipped with robotic aids in laundry, parking, vending, and car maintenance, but now, they’re expanding to also be a part of the coffee industry. With their newly innovative KioCafé Robot @kiocafe, anyone looking for a caffeine-induced pick-me-up will be able to purchase coffee with ease, and without the assistance of anyone other than the kiosk itself. KioSoft encourages customers to “embrace evolution and scale your business with the latest innovations in unattended, automated, and robotic café technology.”

The KioCafé Robots consist of three fully robotic solutions and two self-serve solutions. The KioCafé Kiosk Series 3 serves 75-100 cups of hot coffee per hour through a touchscreen interface. With robotic arms, the kiosk crafts orders just as a barista would in a coffee shop. The KioCafé Kiosk Series 5 is similar to Series 3, but is larger in size and also has the capability to manage pre-orders and build iced drinks alongside hot drinks. The last fully robotic machine, the KioCafé Bar, is “ATM-like” and serves hot, cold, and iced beverages for to-go orders. The KioCafé self-serve solutions include the KioCafé Station, which serves as a countertop machine, and the KioCafé Cart, which can be moved between multiple locations.

Daniel Kim @dk1808, the Head of Sales at KioSoft, believes in the convenience of the KioCafé Robot experience. With the KioCafé Robots, customers are able to enjoy their beverages specifically in places like healthcare facilities, airports, hotels, and retail stores. Technology like this makes coffee accessible and efficient for the public without facing mundane struggles that come with normally operated coffee shops, such as store hours, which is why the KioCafé Robot operates 24/7. Although this technology has the chance to change the world, it is not meant to replace the jobs of service workers.

“I think that better coffee everywhere is something that everybody would enjoy. I travel a lot and I think that there’s a lot of roasters with great coffee and with a great story… for baristas out there, we always need you, we love you.”

Because KioSoft’s main goal is to create a unique experience, there are eight essentials that are featured in all of the robotic cafés. They include 24/7 operation, a customizable menu, an ordering system, a customer-facing mobile app, a self-service payment reader, a QR code scanner, data analytics, and custom branding. With these tools, KioCafé is able to craft drinks that tend to meet a certain group’s needs by keeping track of what’s in demand. The customer’s best interest is in mind, so the KioCafé will be able to deliver service with care.

Right now, KioCafé Robots can be found in the United States and Toronto, Canada.
